Soil Health
Soil health describes the condition of soil in terms of its physical, chemical, and biological properties. Healthy soil is pH balanced, fertile so as to provide plants with adequate water and nutrients, well-structured to regulate movement of air and water, and rich in organic matter and bacteria and fungi which help to fight pests and disease, thus supporting plant growth and ecosystem services. Good soil health is essential for sustainable agriculture, climate change mitigation, and overall environmental quality.
