Water Scarcity
Water scarcity describes the situation in which the demand for freshwater exceeds the current available supply, either due to limited natural resources in arid areas, called physical water scarcity, or due to inefficient water management and infrastructure, called economic water scarcity. Both of these can lead to negative consequences for human health, agriculture, ecosystems, and economic development, thus making the prevention of water scarcity through sustainable water management a critical global priority.
