Climate Equity
Climate equity refers to the fair distribution of the benefits and burdens associated with climate change and its mitigation and adaptation efforts, both within and between countries, generations, and social groups. Climate equity recognises that the impacts of climate change disproportionately affect vulnerable and disadvantaged communities and that the responsibility for addressing climate change should be shared based on historical emissions, economic capacity, and technological capabilities. Climate equity is a key principle in international climate negotiations, guiding the allocation of resources, the setting of targets, and the development of climate policies.
